The Reader is 2008 romantic drama film. It stars Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes and the new star David Kross. It is one of my favourite films of all time. The film is so special to me that once again it's hard for me to get over my sorrow towards the film mostly because of the ending.
This film gave me goosebumps everytime I watch it, It's a beautiful adaptation from the novel of the same name. Kate Winslet definitely deserved the Oscar that year in 2009. Her performance swept the awards season in 2009. She received BAFTA, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards. The academy and BAFTA considered this role as a lead role but the golden globes and SAG considered this as supporting role. But for me it's definitely a lead role, if it wasn't a lead role, Meryl Streep would've won the oscar for her performance in Doubt while Penelope Cruz wouldn't get the chance to win.
I rate this film 10/10 or critically acclaimed for the beautiful performance as well as the screenplay.
